4th Annual Holiday Paddle at Canyon Lake

Come out and paddle in your festive Holiday gear! Decorate your board or kayak and pack a picnic! Whos’ up for a Polar Plunge?

Meet at Boulder Recreation Site at 9:30 AM. Paddles wet by 10:00 AM. The route is always different depending on the wind and weather. We will either paddle to the end of Tortilla Creek or the back end of Boulder Creek, enjoy a picnic together. Maybe the waterfalls and collection pools at the top of Boulder Creek will be flowing!! The last 2 years many brave souls went for a quick dip after the paddle to commemorate a traditional POLAR PLUNGE – maybe to prove their tolerance to the elements – or just be silly. This part is remarkably fun and rewarding! Pack accordingly!

The event is free. Bring your own paddleboard, kayak, paddle gear, Tonto Parking Pass and food and drink.

While this paddle is considered an “all-levels” event, it will be taking place on open deep water that is cold. Participants must be proficient swimmers and be prepared for immersion. Personal floatation devices (pfds) are required to be worn.

All paddlers (participants and their accompanied dependents/guests) are responsible for their own safety during this event. It is the paddlers responsibility to know their limits and that of their equipment for the duration of the event, along with varying unforeseen weather conditions and terrain hazards. Participation is completely voluntary and all participants, including dependents/guests, voluntarily accept any and all responsibility.
