In the last month we…
Paddled 10-miles as a group on Black Friday at our annual Turkey Burn Paddle. The wild horses met us on the beach when we arrived and gave us a memorable send off. The weather was PERFECT! Quite honestly, November is an awesome month to paddle in Arizona. The water was “brisk”. Those that fell in will attest is was a breath-taker, but the air temps reaching 90 degrees with little to no wind made the conditions sincerely brag-worthy! We projected the course would be about 8-miles long and we would be out for about 3-hours. The scenic route back along the northern shore line actually created a full 10-miles for us. Anyone that wasn’t able to join this year, please mark your calendars for next year! You will love it!
We continue to paddle on Tuesday nights at Tempe Town Lake, although the cold temps and random ailments make it hard for even us die-hards to hit the water. We gotta keep it up!. Help us stay accountable and get out and paddle with this Vampire Crew! Meet every Tuesday at Tempe Town Lake Marina with your board, Tempe Permit and a light. Recommended attire would include light layers like a windbreaker and booties. Wetsuits are a little over-kill, but to each it’s own. If you need to rent a board, please call the shop to make arrangements in advance.
New stuff arriving…
We have added some new product lines to our quiver and taken early deliveries for HOT 2018 models.
- JP Australia: New for 2018, JP has created some cool inflatable designs in 2 different constructions – a light LE model that has double-layer technology for strength and a heavy-duty triple layer SE construction. Both models come with the over-inflation safety valve that is perfect for the harsh AZ summers.
- Red Paddle Co.: When it comes to serious “street cred” with inflatable stand up paddleboards, the name Red has been an industry leader year over year. Yes, you will pay more for these boards, but what you get in return is a state-of-the-art technology to maintain rigidity and performance with one of the lowest profile inflatable boards on the market.
- Hobie Eclipse: We have always loved our Hobie stand up paddleboards so imagine how excited we are to share Riverbound will be carrying the Eclipse models with the Mirage system. These are not traditional stand up paddleboards, but definitely a unique way to get out and paddle on the water. The Eclipse can be configured to “peddle” the board while holding onto a handle similar to a bike, or “paddle” like a traditional paddleboard. They are incredibly fast and stable to maneuver This will also be added to our beach rental line-up so make sure you meet us at the beach to try it out.
- SIC Maui: JUST TODAY! We have received most of our 2018 order a little early including updates to our Glide Center demo boards. We are beyond stoked that the new RS model will be hitting the local lakes and we are completely restocked on the most popular X-14 and X12.6 race/touring boards.

While we hit the water in the middle of winter, the weather always has a way of becoming a stellar California beach day.
