This allows paddlers to select their preferred ama setup, whether on the left or right side, and even offers a dual-ama configuration for enhanced stability. Ideal for dragon boat paddlers training solo or during the off-season, the Draco’s design enhances your practice by simulating the stable, controlled environment of a dragon boat while allowing for individual skill improvement and endurance building. Embrace the chance to refine your technique with a canoe that mirrors the consistency and balance you’re accustomed to in team paddling.
Stability and Performance on Demand
Draco’s thoughtful design considers every need for stability and versatility. Its rigging flexibility is a game-changer, as paddlers can choose single- or dual-ama setups depending on training goals or water conditions. This adaptable rigging system brings unmatched versatility, giving paddlers control over stability while training on open or varied water surfaces. Whether racing or training, the Draco’s streamlined rocker ensures excellent handling in small surf, and its lightweight frame makes it ideal for calm water. Already proven in top races like the Gorge and Chattajack, the Draco is your go-to for racing, training, or casual paddling, giving you confidence and agility with every stroke.
Outriggerzone Construction: Kai Wa’a
The Draco, built by Outriggerzone is crafted as a single, seamless piece, eliminating weak points like glue lines and significantly reducing weight.
Built with aerospace-grade prepreg carbon fiber, this advanced construction method uses resin that’s heat-cured directly into the material. This precise process ensures optimal weight control, eliminates unnecessary fillers, and delivers a canoe that retains its shape and rigidity over time, offering unmatched durability and performance.
Standard Model and Pro Model
Technology:
Standard: Average Weight:
Bare Hull | 15.5 lbs 7.02 kg |
Hull Weight | 18 lbs 8.17 kg |
Rigged Weight | 23.7 lbs 10.77 kg |
Description:
When designing a Standard Draco OC1, you can choose from 16 color options for the hull, ama, and logos, allowing for any color combination you’d like. You also have the option to add customizations, including a deck-hull split, a colored cockpit, and graphics—either from our catalog or your unique designs.
Each Standard Draco comes equipped with fitted dust covers for the hull, ama, and iakos.
Pro: Average Weight:
Bare Hull | 14.9 lbs 6.75 kg |
Hull Weight | 16.4 lbs 7.42 kg |
Rigged Weight | 23.7 lbs 10.77 kg |
Description:
Draco Pro models are on average 1.7 lbs (0.75 kg) lighter than Standard models. The layups are nearly identical, with most of the weight reduction achieved by applying minimal paint and sanding it down to a thin layer, giving the Pro its distinctive “sanded-through” appearance. As a result, Pro hulls are available in only five colors: Pro Grey, Pro White, Pro Blue, Pro Green, and Pro Yellow, and customization options are limited to the cockpit and logo colors. However, the ama and iakos can be customized in any color, unlike standard models.
Each Draco Pro also includes an extra rudder and UV-resistant, fitted marine canvas covers for long-term outdoor protection.
