Astral shoes have a special relationship with water. Every component from the threads to the laces are chosen for the ability to shed water and hold up to consistent use in the water. Most designs have been engineered with special drainage to allow the water out without allowing in silt.

In 2012 Astral started making footwear to support the growing community of river kayakers and paddleboarders that didn’t have adequate grip or dried quickly. It turns out that our fundamental approach to designing a shoe that provided the foot’s natural ability to maintain balance and grip in extreme places would also make a comfortable and versatile footwear for use on trails and around town.

Our reason for being is to make gear that elevates human’s experience in Nature, consciously made to preserve clean soil and water.
