Havasu Heat Paddle Race – Lake Havasu
March 19, 2022.
Race Fees: A fee of $25.00 per racer, per race will be charged and can be paid at early registration on the beach (Friday afternoon at 2:00pm) or the morning of the race. If you participate in one race, you pay $25. If you choose to participate in multiple races, your fee multiplies by the number of races you enter.
Race course map review will be conducted at each pre-race meeting.
RACE SCHEDULES
LONG COURSE PRE-RACE MEETING for OC6,OC2,OC1,V1 & SUP ELITE at 6:30am North end of parking lot in the sandy area.
Required Attendees:
OC6:
Steersperson and one other crewperson from each crew
OC1/OC2/V1: All racers
SUP ELITE : All racers
RACE START TIME: 7:30 am (be at start-line at buoy line in Thompson Bay no later than 7:25 am)
Race Line-Up:

Heat 1: All OC 6 Unlimited Canoes – Start line at the buoy line in Thompson Bay

Heat 2: All OC 6 Traditional Canoes and Elite SUP – Start line at the buoy line in Thompson Bay

Heat 3: All OC1 and OC2 – Start line at the buoy line in Thompson Bay
Start Timing:
Approximately one (1) minute apart for each heat.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
1. Depending on total number of canoes participating in the Long-Course Race, Heats 1 and 2 may be consolidated into a single start.
2. All races/heats finish at Beach Finish Line. Shout your bib number at the finish line or your time will NOT be recorded. Please clear the finish line and beach your canoes promptly to make room for other racers.
3. Always be aware and use caution around other boaters utilizing lake waters. Use extra caution near the Channel entrance and avoid the Channel entrance if possible.
4. Avoid grouping canoes on the beach (keep canoes at least 15 feet apart).
5. Long Course race turnaround point is Friendly Island (also called Beaver Island) (see large orange buoys. See course map).

SUP INFLATABLE/SUP NOVICE PRE-RACE MEETING for SUP INFLATABLE & SUP NOVICE at 7:00am North end of parking lot in the sandy area.
Required Attendees:
SUP Inflatable: All Racers
SUP Novice: All Racers
RACE START TIME: 7:45 am, 15 minutes after long course start (be at event beach start line no later than 7:30 am)
1. Inflatable SUP and Novice SUP course is from the Beach, South to the bay buoy-line (second buoy from East shore-line point) and back twice (two complete laps) to the finish line at the beach. See course map.
2. All races/heats finish at Beach Finish Line. Shout your bib number at the finish line or your time will NOT be recorded. Please clear the finish line and beach your SUPs promptly to make room for other racers.
3. Always be aware and use caution around other boaters utilizing lake waters. Use extra caution near the Channel entrance and avoid Channel entrance if possible.

SHORT COURSE PRE-RACE MEETING for OC6, OC2, OC1, V1, SUP 12′.5″, SUP 14′, & all others at 9:30am – North end of parking lot on the sandy area.

RACE START TIME: 10:00 am (be at the buoy line in Thompson Bay no later than 9:55 am)

Heat 2: All OC-1/OC-2/V1/Kayak/Surf Ski/Others- Location: Start at the buoy line in Thompson Bay

Heat 3: 12’6’ and longer SUP – Location: Start at the buoy line in Thompson Bay
